Flux
Location infrastructure for distributed teams
Flux tracks where your team works, when tax residency changes, and which jurisdictions you're operating in—so you stay compliant without hiring a nomad accountant.
Our mission
Mission
Flux exists because location independence created new operational complexity that traditional tools ignore.
When your team spans continents, you face questions legacy companies never ask: Who's triggering permanent establishment? Which contractor just became a tax resident? Are we still covered by our liability insurance in this country?
We believe small, distributed teams deserve the same jurisdictional clarity that enterprises pay law firms to maintain. Flux makes location legibility automatic.
What we're building
- Real-time location tracking with privacy controls
- Residency threshold alerts (183-day rules, treaty positions)
- Entity obligation calendars (VAT, sales tax, annual filings)
- Integrations with Deel, Gusto, and accounting platforms
Who we serve
Distributed teams of 3–30 people who move frequently, hire across borders, and want to stay compliant without hiring a full-time ops person.
We're not building for digital nomad influencers. We're building for operators who treat location flexibility as infrastructure, not identity.
What we're working on
- Build location-tracking API with privacy controlsCreate an API endpoint that accepts location check-ins (country, city, timestamp) and stores them with user consent flags. Include endpoints for querying current locations and historical presence by jurisdiction.
- Map tax residency thresholds for top 20 nomad countriesResearch and document the tax residency rules (183-day thresholds, treaty tie-breakers, physical presence tests) for the 20 most common digital nomad destinations. Output as structured data.
- Share a thread on hidden compliance risks for distributed teamsWrite a 5-tweet thread explaining one non-obvious compliance risk (like permanent establishment or VAT registration triggers) that small distributed teams encounter. Use a real example, keep it practical.
